Wendy “Stormy” Melvin Gunter passed peacefully into her heavenly home to be with our Lord and her family on May 4, 2023. Stormy had a kind and loving nature and brought joy to those who knew her. She was a cancer survivor and helped to encourage those around her that were facing their own cancer diagnosis.
Stormy retired from Sauter Timber in Rockwood after 15+ years, and had previously been employed at Daniels & Uselton in Rockwood. She owned and operated Sewing Up a Storm in South Harriman. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends and especially with her precious cat Torie. She was an avid crocheter and enjoyed creating gifts for family and friends.
She was a member of The Grace Place Experience in Rockwood and the First Presbyterian Church in Harriman.
Preceding her in death were her loving husband, Jerry Tom Gunter; parents Mary Elizabeth and Henry “Bob” Melvin, grandparents Charlotte “Lottie” and George “Red” Capps and Gertrude and Graham Melvin.
She is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law Donna and Fred Raney; very special ‘son’ Klaus Hofmann; and a host of relatives and very special and loving friends. She also leaves behind her grieving cat, Torie.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 7, from 12:30-2:00 at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood Tenn. Memorial services with Reverends Ernie Willis and Paul Young will follow at 2:00. Interment will follow at Roane Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, National Kidney Association, National Scleroderma Association, or the Roane County Animal Shelter.
