Thelma Vaughan

Thelma Ray Short Vaughan, age 76 of Rockwood, TN passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. She was born in Four Mile, KY on March 10, 1945. She worked at K25 in a secretarial position. She was also deeply involved with The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) and dedicated many years to helping all those in need of support and care in honor and memory of her daughter, Lisa. She even served as the Tennessee State President of the organization in her journey to bring awareness to others. She adored flowers and trees. One of her favorite places to visit was the Isle of Palms beach in South Carolina. She was loved dearly by her family and will be desperately missed.

The family will have a service Monday, March 15th, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman, TN at 11:00 am with Father Michael Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, TN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Mable Short; and her daughter Lisa Vaughan.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Earle Vaughan Jr.; her two daughters, Julie Christen (Doug) Irish and Cara Lauren (Sam) Vaughan; her grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth and Katherine Lauren Irish; her sister, Carolyn Meadors; and her niece, Wrenea Farrar.
