Thelma Maxine McPherson Chrisco

Mrs. Thelma Maxine McPherson Chrisco, age 82, a resident of Rockwood, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 10, 2025, at her home. She was born to this life on February 24, 1943, in Rockwood, Tennessee to Elizabeth and Willard Hickey.

Raised in her hometown of Rockwood, she graduated from Campbell High School. After graduation she attended and graduated from “The” Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. At Fort Campbell, Kentucky, she met and fell in love with her soulmate and companion, Larry Chrisco. With a strong will to be part of any community she was in, she started her journey as a schoolteacher, which she did for many years, before coming back to Rockwood to begin her family. After moving back, she worked and retired with the Tennessee Department of Human Services, where she flourished as a help to her community. She was also a loyal and dedicated member of the Speight Chapel AME Zion Church in Rockwood until her health began to fail her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth & Willard Hickey; husband, Larry Chrisco; and brothers, Edward Wayne Wester and William Lee McPherson, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her time here on Earth:

2 Sons: Larry Shane Chrisco (Shannon) of Knoxville, TN

Jason Chrisco (Dr. Parker Hunt) of Jackson, TN

Sister: Elisha Martin of Harriman, TN

And a host of special grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Pastor Candice Dendy officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of Mrs. Thelma Maxine McPherson Chrisco.
