U.S.M.C. Sgt. Ernest Joseph “Ernie” Williams, age 77, a resident of the Pine Orchard community of Oakdale, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at his home. He was born March 23, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of the Heritage Fellowship of Oak Ridge church. Ernie was a retired Electronics Electrician with the U.S Department of Energy Y-12 facility and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local # 270 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Ernie was a master carpenter and skilled woodworker, building many pieces of furniture for their home. He enjoyed breeding and showing dogs, particularly Keeshonds and Wolf Sable Pomeranians. He will also be remembered for his witty sense of humor and for his great sacrifice of military service for freedom and to defend Our Great Nation, which left permanent scars and health issues which he carried the remainder of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Williams & Odell Williams King; and brother James Williams.

Elizabeth Yocum

Gary Williams

Bobby Williams

Sister-in-law: Sharon Bolton

And several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 11, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. .at the Heritage Fellowship of Oak Ridge; 121 N. Illinois Avenue; Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Memorial services will follow on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. from the Heritage Fellowship with Pastor Jason Sharpe officiating. Family and friends will meet on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier); 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway; Knoxville, TN 37920 for Graveside Services and interment with full military honors by the East Tennessee State Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Marine Corps. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of U.S.M.C. Sgt. Ernest Joseph “Ernie” Williams.
