Mrs. Norma Bazel

Mrs Norma C Bazel was born February 22, 1927, to the late Carlton E. (Sr) and Ethel G. Moseley in Harriman, Tennessee. She attended and graduated from Campbell High School, with salutatorian honors and was offered an academic scholarship to Morristown College in Morristown, Tennessee. However, she chose to pursue an employment opportunity in the garment district of New York City. After working for several years, she relocated back to Tennessee where she married the late James “Billy” Bazel.

Upon her husband’s military assignments she resided in Charleston, South Carolina; Presque Isle, Maine; Caribou, Maine; and Columbus, Ohio returning to Tennessee upon her husband’s military deployment to Vietnam. Later she worked and retired from Harriman City School System.

She was an active member and served as President and Treasurer of New Century United Methodist Woman Society, Membership Chair Person, Vacation Bible School Leader and a faithful member of the New Century United Methodist Church Choir.

She was a very compassionate person who was all about family and enjoyed supporting young people in their endeavors, whether it was academics or sports. She was a loyal fan of the Harriman High football and basketball teams. She loved to travel and dine out with her family and friends.

Young people were drawn to her and she enjoyed having them around. A lot of the young people that she babysat that grew up and had families would bring their children around to meet her and enjoy her cooking.
