Michael W. "Mike" Lowery

Mr. Michael W. “Mike” Lowery, age 68, a lifelong resident of the Dogwood / Grievers Community of Rockwood, Tennessee passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He was born June 23, 1956, in Rockwood, Tennessee. Mike was a Lifetime Member, Deacon, and Trustee of the Grievers Chapel Baptist Church in Rockwood. He retired from Hilltoppers Inc. in Crossville, Tennessee after 43 years of providing care and support to adults with intellectual and other challenges, something he continued to do even after retirement. Mike was a very active member of the Mayberry Club and was an avid Mayberry and Waltons fan, and a regular at the “Evans Supper Club”. Mike was always eager and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and always stayed connected with and cared for the needs of those in his community, his family and his “adopted family”. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wilburn Lowery & Alice Smith Lowery, and members of the Lowery, Smith, and McCoy families.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) until 7:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services and a Celebration of Mike’s life will follow on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Pastor Dudley Evans, Rev. Joey Smith, and Rev. Brian Smith officiating. Committal services and interment will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 12:00 noon (E.D.T.) (11:00 a.m. C.D.T.) in the Hedgecoth Cemetery in Cumberland County, Tennessee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grievers Chapel Baptist Church; C/O 214 S. Skyline Avenue; Rockwood, TN 37854.
