Lulu Belle loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Harriman for 67 years. Her dedication to the Lord was exemplified by her teaching the adult women's Sunday School class for 40+ years, along with her role as the church clerk. She was a member of the choir and also taught Bible School, directed Christmas programs, and she served in WMU within the church. Her knowledge of scripture exceeded that of scholars and touched many who were privileged to hear her teach. She was a true scholar of the Apostle Paul.
As a local substitute teacher at Midtown Elementary School, she tutored children at her home for many years, as she was exceptionally gifted in spelling and English. Her love and adoration for music and the piano was realized through her daughter, whom she always encouraged and learned alongside of.
She was a master seamstress, gifted cook, and an unparalleled, family historian, keeping family records going back centuries. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Henry, accompanying him to taxidermy shows and trips out West. She always attended events for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to support them.
Above all, however, she was known simply for her delightful personality, the one thing anyone who ever met her, would always remember.
Though her memories were taken later in life, they survive with the people who had the greatest privilege of having known her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the team from Amedisys for their care and support, especially Ariel, and her nurses, Cody and Terry, as well as the caregivers: Gail, Vivian, and Courtney. Their care for Mrs. Lulu Belle over the last several years have made them a part of her own family.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing"
