Rockwood (Pine Orchard), Tennessee

Mr. James D. Smith, age 92, a resident of the Pine Orchard Community of Rockwood, Tennessee passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, at his home. He was born December 16, 1931, in Maylene, Alabama, the seventh son born to his parents. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman, Tennessee and was close to God for most of his life. He owned and operated “The Trading Post”, a staple store in Pine Orchard for many years, with his wife, and his brother, Jack Clyde Smith. Mr. Smith was also a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry & Sarah Smith; brothers, Cecil Smith, Willard Smith, Clyde Smith, Woodrow Smith, Perry Smith, and Joe Smith; and by family friend, Charlie Clark.


Survivors include:


Wife of 62 years: Wanda Smith


Son & Daughter-in-law: David Smith (Debbie)


Grandchildren: Margie Smith

 Jameson Smith (Summer)


Great Grandchildren: Parker Smith, Harper Smith, and Walker Smith


And several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.



Memorial Mass will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman, Tennessee with Inurnment to follow in the Blessed Sacrament Columbarium. Dates and times have not been set but will be announced as soon as they are available. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of Mr. James D. Smith.
