Mr. James A. “Jim” Cordell, age 55, a resident of Kingston, Tennessee passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his home. He was born July 26, 1969, in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Harriman, Tennessee and was also a former member of Boy Scout Troop # 101 in Kingston, Tennessee and had earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Jim was a retired Unit Operator with the Tennessee Valley Authority working at Bull Run, Johnsonville, and Kingston Steam Plants. He was also a Scuba Dive Master and Instructor. He was a Corvette enthusiast and was a life-time member of the National Corvette Museum. He was also an avid Star Wars fan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Karin I. Cordell; brother, Anthony Wayne Cordell; and grandparents, Luther & Ethel Cordell, and Erna Urbansky.

Vanessa Cordell
Step-Daughters: Brittany Samaniego (Jesus)
Aimee Alexander (Brent)
Father: Paul M. Cordell
Sister: Sherri Cordell
Grandchildren: Emma Cordell, Drake Samaniego, and Koah Samaniego
And many other relatives and friends including some extended family in Germany and a cousin, Timothy Isaiah, who is combating MS (Multiple Sclerosis).
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1658 Roane State Highway, Harriman, TN 37748. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. from the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Miller officiating. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 10:40 a.m. at the Ceder Hill Baptist Church, 636 Demory Road, LaFollette, TN 37766 to proceed to the Bakers Forge Cemetery in LaFollette, Tennessee for Graveside services and interment at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; the Redeemer Luther Church, Harriman, Tennessee; or to the American Heart Foundation. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of James A. “Jim” Cordell.

For those wishing to travel in procession to the cemetery, family and friends will meet at Cedar Hill Baptist Church, 636 Demory Road, LaFollette, TN 37766 at 10:40 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery.
