George "Ellis" Shacklett, Jr.

George “Ellis” Shacklett, Jr., a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at his home. He was born October 30, 1954, in Rockwood, Tennessee. Ellis worked in the communication industry for many years as well as other businesses. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee. He was an avid sports fan, especially following the Tennessee Vols as well as Professional Teams. He also enjoyed Motown music and “Car Talk” on NPR radio. Ellis will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Larkin Shacklett.

Survivors include:

3 Children: Rebecca Saroyan of Cincinnati, OH

 Molly Suwinski (Cass) of Columbus, OH

 Sam Shacklett of Austin, TX

5 Grandchildren: Marley Saroyan, Dylan Saroyan, Bailey Suwinski, Scarlett Suwinski, and Bexley Suwinski

Father: Dr. George E. Shacklett, Sr., M.D. of Knoxville, TN

Sister: Amy Marie Shacklett of Knoxville, TN

Mother of his Children: Susan Shacklett of Cincinnati, OH

And several other relatives and a host of friends.

There will be two public visitations. The family will receive friends Friday, January 31, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Library of the NHC Farragut Assisted Living; 122 Cavette Hill Lane, Knoxville, TN 37934. The family will also receive friends Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Graveside services and interment will follow on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee with Chaplain George Dobler officiating.
