Elmer H Steelman

Mr. Elmer H. Steelman Sr, age 81 of Rockwood, gained his wings on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman. He was born on April 29, 1943, in Crab Orchard. He worked as a crane operator at Roane Electric Furnace in Rockwood until it closed it's doors. He worked in the timber yards with family and other odd jobs until he went to work for Seelbach Tree Company, where he was until he officially retired. He loved to tinker with lawnmowers. He could rebuild them and fix anything on them. He was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt, and loved to watch him race. His favorite hobby was fishing. He will be loved and missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents: Lester & Laura Pugh Steelman; brother: Chester Steelman; sisters: Christine Fowler, Anna Kilby, and Janie Kilby. He is survived by:

Children: Michelle Matthews (Thomas), Connie Long, Robert Steelman, and Elmer H. Steelman Jr. 

Grandchildren: Jamie Matthews (Jenny), Amanda Hill (Ryan), Thomas "DJ" Matthews, Ashely Hydell (Anthony), Allen Lay, Shelly Steelman, and Austin Steelman (Chaye)

Great Grandkids: Mattie Webster, Ellie Hill, Danny Thomas Matthews, Mason Lay, Greyson Treece, Raelyn Treece, Xaelee Howard, Tayan Davis, Deja Steelman, Kobe Davis, and Jeremiah Steelman

Brothers: Sam Steelman (Teresa), James Steelman, Jerry Steelman (Shelia), Terry Steelman, and Jason Steelman

Special Friend: Cindy Strader

along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members and loved ones. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm ET. Cremation arrangements have been made and a private interment will be held at a later date. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Elmer H. Steelman Sr.
