Richard Claude Driskill, age 50, of Murfreesboro, TN was born in Rockwood, TN on October 26, 1968 to Claude and Jeepie Childs Driskill. On June 2, 2019, with his family by his side, Richard entered into Heaven to receive his new body from Jesus. From leukemia to a failing heart, Richard suffered many medical complications over the years, but always with a smile on his face and love in his heart. He was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Richard was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Kingston, TN. Although unable to attend services for many years, he was a faithful witness to all and looked forward to being in Heaven. Richard was a graduate of West High School in Knoxville and graduated from MTSU in 1994 with a B.S. in Social Work. He worked as a crisis counselor until two major strokes at the age of 36 forced him to retire. Prior to that, he loved to travel around the country. After his strokes rendered him unable to physically travel far from home, he continued his travels throughout the world on Google Earth. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner spending many hours researching his varied interests. Richard was preceded in death by grandparents, Charles and Florence Driskill and Marvin and Myra Childs and Uncles Richard Lee Driskill, Lewis “Bud” Driskill, Curtis Driskill, George Childs, Charlie Ingram Sr. Aunt’s Wanda Sue Driskill, Peggy C. Worley. He is survived by: Parents, Claude and Jeepie Driskill of Murfreesboro, TN (formerly of Roane County TN) Beloved sisters: Susan D. Echols (Arthur) of Murfreesboro Tracy D. Staats (Bryan) of Murfreesboro Rebecca “Becky” D. Parker (David) of Murfreesboro Cathy D. Mebes (Mark) of Walla Walla, WA Uncle Jerry Childs (Becky) of Knoxville who took him on his trip of a lifetime and has always been a source of love and support throughout Richard’s life. Devoted Aunts who were always there for him. Joyce Childs Ingram of Kingston, TN Jo Childs (Aunt Helen) Carr (Frank) of Huntsville, AL Debbie Childs Counts (Parker) of Chattanooga, TN June Driskill of Nashville Also: Betty Driskill Woody of Nashville, TN Nancy Driskill Smith (Johnny) of Rockwood, TN He was a much loved uncle and “best friend” to his 13 nieces and nephews and 10 great nephews and great niece. He always found time to play video games with them and to talk about whatever was on their minds. Richard is also survived by many cousins and friends. By his request, Richard was cremated and no formal funeral will be held. A Celebration of Life was held at the family home with a Big Hot Dog Party following.
