Carl Jackson Skidmore

Mr. Carl Jackson Skidmore, age 85, a resident of Rockwood, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at his home. He was born February 18, 1938, in the Westel Community of Cumberland County, Tennessee. He was a retired Insulator from Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was a Member and Deacon of the Clymersville Baptist Church in Rockwood. He was always eager and willing to help anyone. He greatly loved and served his church and community. Mr. Skidmore enjoyed being a beekeeper and was a member of the Roane / Morgan County Bee Club. Most of all, he will be remembered for his strong Faith in the Lord and his great love for his family, especially his great grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Papoo”. He was preceded in death by his father, Damon Skidmore; mother, Helen Skidmore; daughter, Carla Melton; and brothers, Dallas Skidmore, James Skidmore, and Buster Skidmore.

Wife of 62 years:        Doris Skidmore

Daughter:            Melissa “Lisa” Ward (Greg)

Grandchildren:        Casey Stooksbury (Bradley)
                Brandi Perkins (Travis)

Great Grandchildren:    Drew, Alex, Ellie, Parker, and Greyson

Brother:            Luther Skidmore (Maxine)

And several other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 8, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Bro. Edsel West and Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Committal services and interment will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Glen Alice Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee. An online register is available at www.evansmortuary.biz .
