Thomas “Tom” Gary Brown, age 70 of Oscoda, MI, formerly of Rockwood, Passed away on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 at his home. Tom was born in Rockwood, TN on January 13, 1947, to Harry E. Brown Jr. and Aljean Warner Brown. He grew up in Rockwood where he attended school and played football. Tom was a graduate of Rockwood High School in 1965. After high school, he enlisted into the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 20 years. Tom also worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years as a rural carrier. Tom married the former Rysta Schachterle in 1981 and they were happily married for 36 years. He was a former member of the International Order of the Demolay. Tom was also a member of the American Legion where he served numerous offices at nearly all levels including Commander of Department of Michigan and National Executive Committee, as well as a member of the Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans in Canada and the United States. He enjoyed music, photography, hunting, fishing, playing darts, shooting, pool, wood working, and carpentry. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; Harry E Brown & Aljean Warner Brown, and his brother; Marle Alan Brown.
