Rev. James Emel “Jim” Racey, age 89, a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Bridge at Rockwood, Tennessee. He was born June 13, 1925 in Romney, West Virginia to James Tucker Racey and Dora Burkett Racey. Rev. Racey was a Pastor with the Independent Assemblies of God in Hagerstown, Maryland for over 40 years, at Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Selbyville, Maryland for about 10 years, and in Crossville, Tennessee for about 4 years. He was also a retired factory worker with CertainTeed Corporation. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Cleo Stewart Racey; grandson, Shane Kuhn; and several brothers and sisters.

Family and friends will meet on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. for graveside services and interment in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery; 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway; Knoxville, Tennessee. Military honors will be given by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard.
