Mrs. Reather P. Collins, age 91 of Harriman, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Harriman Care and Rehab after a long illness. She was born on November 23, 1921 in Pitt County, North Carolina. In 1943 when WWII was gearing up and many men were stationed at Fort Bragg, NC and while working at a USO, she met the Love of her Life. Morgan H. Collins. They were married in Bennettsville, SC on December 2, 1943. He shipped out two days later. Upon his return they moved to Harriman, TN in 1945.
Mrs. Collins was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Harriman and was called “Mimi” by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan H. Collins, who served as a 2-term Harriman City Councilman and Mayor of the City of Harriman. ; Her Parents: Jesse and Clara Boyd; Brothers: Jasper, Preston, and Tucker Boyd; Sisters: Annie Marie Campbell, Callie Hardee, and Gladys Hardee. She is survived by her only child, a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Henry (Bub) Grigsby of Harriman; Grandsons: Ritchie Grigsby, Mitch Grigsby and wife Christy; Great-Granddaughters: Morgan Grigsby and Caiyden Grigsby, all of Harriman; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The Family will receive Friends on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Evans Mortuary of Rockwood from 12:00 noon to 1:30pm.
Graveside Services will follow at the Roane Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mason Goodman, officiating. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood is serving family of Mrs. Reather P. Collins.
