Mr. Jack Howard Evans, age 84 of Rockwood, Tennessee passed away at his residence on Monday, July 7, 2014. Mr. Evans was a Member of First Baptist Church in Rockwood, Rockwood Lodge #403 F&AM, and Carpenters Union Local #50, Knoxville, Tennessee. Howard was retired from TVA- Kingston Steam Plant with 29 years’ service. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a Machine Gun Unit Leader, and served on the front lines of the Korean War. An Expert Marksman, he taught small arms fire at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He was also a well-known Fast-Pitch Softball Pitcher. But to Howard, his greatest accomplishment was being a papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Parents: Jack & Mayme Evans; Son-in-law: W. Duane Niles; Brothers: Bob Evans, Edward Evans, Ray Claude Evans (Gladys), George Evans (Maggie); Brother-in-laws: Leon Battles, Carl (Wimp) Winters; Sister-in-laws: Louise & Billie Evans and Betty Evans.
He is survived by:

Mr. Evans was a faithful husband, a loving father, and the best papaw in the whole world.
Arrangements are as Follows: Friday, July 11, 2014 at Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee, The Family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Funeral will Follow at 8:00pm with Rev. Marty Shadoan, officiating. Concluding Services and Interment will be on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood at 11:00am with Full-Military Honors by U. S. Marines. In Lieu of Flowers The Evans Family requests Memorials be made to First Baptist Church Widow’s Ministry Fund. Evans Mortuary is serving the Family of Mr. Jack Howard Evans.
