Dr. Charles “Sonny” Works, age 61, a resident of Kingston, Tennessee and Pastor of First Baptist Church, Kingston went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at his residence. In addition to serving as Pastor of First Baptist Church in Kingston, he had pastored several churches in Scott, Morgan, and Roane Counties; and served as a Chaplain with the Roane County Sheriff’s Office, the Midway Football Team, the Sunbright Football Team, and the Roane County High School Football Team. Sonny was born January 22, 1953 in Hixon, Tennessee. He was a 1971 graduate of Harriman High School; attended Roane State Community College and Tennessee Technological University; and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in 1997, a Masters of Divinity in 2005 and a Doctorate of Education in 2007 from Southern Theological Seminary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Charles & Rachel Marie Wilcox Works; son, Charles “Chuck” Works III; and sister, Barbara Works Steffy.

The family would also like to especially thank Sonny’s Doctors, Dr. John Belitz, Dr. Daniel Ibach and Dr. Gabriel Ojada; and his Hospice Nurse, Martha Poole, for the special care they gave him during his illness.
Family and Friends will meet on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery, 699 E. Strang Street, Rockwood, Tennessee for Graveside Services with Pastor Jody McCloud officiating. A reception with refreshments will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Kingston. A Celebration of Life Service will follow on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. from the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 215 N.
