Dorothy Louise Rayburn Nash, of Rockwood, TN went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at the age of 102 in the home of her daughter, Betty Nash Newman in Rockmart, GA. She was born on April 27, 1914 in the Wheat Community (Oak Ridge), TN, the eighth and last surviving child of nine children of Frank Austin and Elizabeth Briggs Rayburn. She graduated from Union Grammar School and Wheat High School. Louise was the widow of the late Thomas B. Nash who passed away in February 1973. She continued to live in Rockwood until her later years when she received care from her daughters.
Louise is survived by six children, Robert (Harriet) Nash of Central, SC; Thomas (Billie) Nash of Ringgold, GA; Linda (Charles) Roddy of Rossville, Ga; Richard (Lillie) Nash of Ringgold, GA; Betty (James, deceased) Newman of Rockmart, GA; and Julia (Russell) Seward of Mooresville, NC. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren.
Louise was a member of the Rockwood Wesleyan Church and faithfully served in many positions during her lifetime, including Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer. She was especially interested in Missions Work of the Church, Bible Schools, and Christmas Programs.
She spent most of her life caring for her family and others in the community. After her children were grown, she began working at Rockwood Hospital providing care for patients and supporting their families. Later she provided care for her private clients in their homes. She continued this service for many years.
Funeral services will be conducted by her grandson, Rev. Greg Nash, scheduled Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at 2:00pm at Evans Mortuary, 805 N. Gateway Ave., Rockwood, TN. Visitation will be from 12:30pm until 2:00pm at the Mortuary prior to the service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, TN following the service.
