Mr. Charles Thomas Parker, age 93, a resident of Rockwood, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Bridge at Rockwood. He was born August 22, 1921 in Chattooga County, Georgia to Horace Parker and Eunice Cain Parker. Mr. Parker was a member of the Harriman Church of God, Harriman, TN and was a retired Fossil Fuel Unit Operator with T.V.A. Kingston Steam Plant. Mr. Parker was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, enlisting in July 1942 and was honorable discharged December 1945. He also served as a Merchant Marine following the end of WWII. He was a Life Member of American Legion Post #50 in Rockwood, TN for 68 years, where he served as Past Commander, and was also a Life Member and Past Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4782 in Rockwood, TN; and was a Charter Member of the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. Mr. Parker was a Life Member of Rockwood Masonic Lodge # 403 F. & A.M. for 68 years and was a member and Past Commander of the Knights of Pythias Sam Rayburn Lodge in Rockwood for over 50 years. He also served as Past State Commander for the Knights of Pythias Lodge. He was also a retired member and Past President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local # 1323 in Kingston, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wives, Aileen Parker and Nelda Parker; sons, Charles Thomas Parker, Jr.; daughter, Marcia “Diane” Parker; grandson, Charles Thomas Parker III; and sister, Helen Weaver.

The family will receive friends, Friday, May 8, 2015 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Jeff Blackburn, Rev. Ottis Ball, and Rev. Kevin Human officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
