Mrs. Illa Swing Rodgers
Mrs. Illa Rodgers, age 83 of Fairfax, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 with her family at her side. Illa was born on December 9, 1932 into the Westel Community in Cumberland County Tennessee. She graduated from Cumberland County High School in April 1950. Illa worked as an accountant for 48 years, retiring as a CPA in 1998. Smith & Coppinger, Rockwood, TN 1950-1957, US Government, Washington, DC 1957-1962, Charles E. Smith Companies, Washington, DC 1962-1967, Braddock Supply Corporation, Chantilly, VA 1971-1998. Illa married Wheeler Rodgers of Rockwood, Tennessee in September 1956. Together they worshipped at the Church of Christ, raised their son Eric, and served the American Cancer Society where Illa was the Memorials Chairman. Illa was preceded in death by her parents: William Hammet Swing and Edna Phillips Swing, sisters Inez Swing and Maxine Swing Bohannon, and husband Wheeler.

Arrangements are as follows: Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in the chapel of Evans Mortuary, family will receive Friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with funeral immediately following. Interment and graveside services will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be sent to the Manassas Church of Christ at 8110 Signal Hill Road, Manassas, Virginia 20110.
